Try going in to safe mode,,tap f8 key prior to windows loading. Have there
been any changes to pc lately? Have you installed any new software,
possibly a bug? Or did this just pop up out of the blue?

Windows 98 Restore

Hi

This may be caused from a corrupt OS. Boot the PC from your windows 98 CD and select the option for CD-ROm Support.

Navigate to the CD and go to the tools directory, then to the sysrec directory.

Type PCRESTOR

this will run what looks like a windows 98 setup but will not lose any data or settings and will replace all your Windows 98 system files.

This should clear the bug out for you and allow you to work normally
