hi everyone i'm new to this, i have just got today a acer aspire a150b when i turned it on it wont start up, it on xp and all i get is a error message saying an error has been encounted that prevents setup from continuing, then another window with an error saying windows is unable to start because the registry could not be updated trying to update internet explorer, its a mobile laptop with a usb modem, i hope someone can help

Where did you get this laptop from? It looks like somebody was trying to load a fresh copy of Windows on the laptop and it failed in the middle of the setup, possibly because they didn't have a product key. You will need to get a Windows CD/DVD and reload Windows.
