Start/Run/CMD Does not work?

Like Floop says, search for cmd.exe in the seacrh bar. Otherwise, I have two solutions for you.
1. Run a Malware scan, some malware can delete or disable CMD.
2. Open notepad and type command.com then save the file on the desktop and call it anythin.bat Run that file and it should bring up an alternative

floop12444 & armedgill, thanks for your suggestions.. will try this tonight.
I am able to get on the internet for about 30 minutes at a time, could this be why AVG 8.5 free, Microsoft Windows Update will not do updates? I even uninstalled AVG and installed Free Aviral with same outcome not able to do update with theirs.....

If you open the 'Run' bar and just type in:
notepad
It will open

Malwarebytes downloaded, did scan and found 26 spyware.. removed them.

cmd C:/windows/system32 380kb
In Blue;
nerocmd C:/program files/ahead/nero 148kb
cmd C:/windows/service pack files/386 380kb
evntcmd C:/windows/service pack files/386 24kb

I did, when I opened up the file from the desktop, the desktop icons went away for 2 seconds and then came back on.... was I suppose to do something else?

When I double click on it, all the desktop icons go away four couple seconds and then the icons come back.
No dos: window opens up. I tried this on another pc and saw what you were talking about, will not do it on this pc still??

Obviously, there has to be a virus that is causing all this with no luck of trying suggestions posted here, I do appreciate all of your support.

I did, started then asked for original XP disk. Unfortunately my friend cannot find the disk that came with his Dell.
Time for him to take it to a local PC repair center and let them resolve it was my suggestion... do you agree?
