Star Tech external Hard Drive issues

Hi Guys,

I have a Star Tech S2510BMU33CB case and a 6 year old external hard drive inside it. The hard drive (or maybe the case) is a bit faulty and isn't being recognised on my laptop anymore, so I'm thinking of buying a new hard drive that will fit into my current Star Tech case. Is it possible to buy an external hard drive without the case, and if so is it best to claim the star tech case on warranty or just get a new complete external hard drive?

Thanks in advance

Yes, it's called an internal Hard Drive. Any 2.5" Laptop/Notebook HDD will work.
To test whether this is the Enclosure or the HDD, remove the HDD from the Star Tech enclosure and install it as a secondary HDD in a desktop computer. If it does not spin up, clicks or is not recognized on that computer, then it is the drive, and the Enclosure is still good
