Hi, I am having a few problems. First of all, when I click on anything that is supposed to open a javascript window it will not let me. For example, I have a UPS account and to add a new address a new window appears. I cannot open this window even if I hold CTRL while clicking.

Second problem I am having is someone having a program on my computer that can get my password to Neopets (a virtual online pet program.) Every few days my account is frozen due to false logins and it is not me doing it. The password is changed everytime so someone has to be hacking into it.

Here is my log. I used the HiJackThis Log Analyzer.

Thanks.

Please turn off Word Wrap and then post a new log. If you are using Notepad this is done by going to the Edit menu and clicking on Word Wrap to remove the check. This will make your log much easier for the analysts to read.
Thanks

Hello XxPiMPiNAnGeLx,

Please download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/.

1. Install Ewido Security Suite.
2. When installing, under 'Additional Options' uncheck:
* Install background guard
* Install scan via context menu
3. Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double click it.
4. The program will now open to the main screen.
5. When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning 'Database could not be found!'. Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
6. You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
* On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
* Then click on Start Update.
7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. The status bar at the bottom will display 'Update successful'.
8. Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can go to http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ to update manually.

Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link doesn't work) and install it. Do not run it yet.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = wmplayer.exe //ICWLaunch
O16 - DPF: {084F552D-19EB-4668-9788-984CBC781A8F} (AsyncDownloader Class) - http://survey.otxresearch.com/Preloader.dll

CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp! If you have a 64 bit Operating System do NOT run Cleanup and let me know as we will use another utility

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Standard CleanUp!"
*Uncheck the following:
-Delete Newsgroup cache
-Delete Newsgroup Subscriptions
-Scan local drives for temporary files
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Do NOT reboot/logoff when prompted.

Now open Ewido and do a scan on your system.

* Click on Scanner
* Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* NOTE: During some scans with Ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
o You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
o If Ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
o Do NOT select 'Perform action on all infections'
o If you are unsure of any entry found, select none for now as the action.
* Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
* Click Save report.
* Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

Reboot into Normal Mode. Run another scan with HijackThis and post the log here along with the results of the Ewido Scan.

HEre you go. Thanks again. Does what I am describing sound like something that could be spyware? I mean EVERY time I change my password they go right in and change it again. Yet it only happens with that one website.

Hi,

I'm quite familiar with Neopets as my kids visit there often. :grin: Is it possible that someone in your house is trying to access your login? It will only give so many tries on the password before they 'freeze your account',
then change it as a safety precaution.

Is your javascrpt working yet?

Please run an online scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm
Make sure you click the "Free Online Virus Scan" in the upper right hand corner of the page under the Free use Activescan header. We do NOT want the default spyXposer scan.

Once it has finished save the activescan log. Then post that log in your next post.

Hi. So you are familiar with Neopets. LoL, I must confess I am 21 years old and addicted and no one in my house even knows what the heck it is...So to answer your question it isn't someone in my household trying to access the account. I was browsing around some Neopets websites and webrings and maybe I downloaded something not knowing. That is the only thing I can think of. Is there such thing as being able to see everytime I log into a certain website? Like I mentioned earlier I have had no problems with my online bank account, paypal, credit cards, etc. so it can't be just a general program. It just gets irritating.

My javascript was working until today. I had to click on it twice and the second time I had to hold down the mouse button for a few seconds before it would pop up. I cannot run that scan because it is a javascript so I have no log to post for you :( Do you see anything else that could possibly be causing my password and javascript problem?

I haven't got my account unfrozen since I've done all the scans so it could possibly be gone. Their customer service takes a few days. :(

Thanks again for all your help.

Let's just keep looking at your system a bit. Please run the Panda scan and post those results here. :smile:

I'd like to look a little deeper also:

Right click on http://www.silentrunners.org/Silent Runners.vbs and choose Save As...Save it to your Desktop. Make sure you have disabled any programs that may block/disable scripts (ex: Ad-Watch, TeaTimer, Norton, etc.). Double click on 'Silent Runners' to run it. This will take a few minutes. It will create a file called 'Startup Programs' followed by your computer name and current date. Open up that file and post all the contents here in your next post.

Download StartDreck http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/StartDreck.zip

Unzip to its own folder and start the program:
Press 'Config'
Press 'mark all'

Uncheck the following boxes only:
System/Running Process -> List Modules
System/Drivers -> NT Services
System/Drivers -> NT Kernel- and FS-drivers
Press 'OK'

Press 'Save' and select the location to save the log file (default is the same folder as the application)

Post the log in this thread.

I don't know how to run the Panda scan because the link won't open for me since it is a javascript. I click Open In New Window and it comes up blank. Here are the two others.

You have some entrys in your Silentrunners log that I need to investigate...

Download WinPFInd http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/oldtimer/WinPFind.zip and extract it to your C:\ folder. This will create a folder called WinPFind in the C:\ folder.

Download Track qoo http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/Trackqoo.zip
Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop. Unzip the Track qoo.vbs inside to your desktop. DO NOT run it yet!

Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.!

Inside C:\WinPFind is a file called WinPFind.exe. Double-click on this file to launch the program. Once it is launched, click on the Start Scan button and wait for it to finish. This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works as it can take a while, upwards to 30 minutes or more.! Once the Scan is Complete it will make a txt file (log) of what was found.

1. Go to the WinPFind folder
2. Locate WinPFind.txt
3. Please post those results in your next post!

REBOOT to normal mode.

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

So I need the following tool logs..

WinPFind.txt log
Track qoo.vbs log

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

File: dbxdigitalriver.exe

Status: MIGHT BE INFECTED/MALWARE (Sandbox emulation took a long time and/or runtime packers were found, this is suspicious. Normally programs aren't packed and don't force the sandbox into lengthy emulation. Do realize no scanner issued any warning, the file can very well be harmless. Caution is advised, however.)

Reboot into safe mode and delete BOTH those files...

Then run the Cleanup utility again and reboot/logoff when prompted. Then post another WinPFind log. Let me know of any problems your still having.
