I'm not really sure what section to post this under, but I put it here because this only seems to happen when playing Stepmania(the only somewhat intensive game I play often). Basically I'll be in the middle of the game, and the game freezes and the instant of sound it was playing rapidly repeats. The game eventually resumes (after maybe 7-12 seconds), but then I am disconnected from the internet, and can't reconnect until I restart my computer. I've also recently discovered that it seems to disable my USB ports(not 100% sure, but I think it does).
This has happened, though a lot rarer, while watching a video file. My laptop's a Toshiba Satelite pro a200, windows xp pro sp3, 2 core 1.6 ghz.

Hello DLH112 and welcome to TSF

I just want to reference your specifications here for later usage or if other wants to know what you have. I'm hoping its correct. There a bunch of different models with specs that are pretty close to each other. I don't know if you added XP to it or if I have it wrong here.

Can you tell me the temperatures of your laptop's CPU HDD and graphics card using PC Wizard?

It'll be something like this that I want. A screen shot or the temperatures. I also need it after you're in a game so tell me the max temperature it gets to when you minimize it to look at the temperatures.

Before entering the game, it says the HD is 35C, both processor cores are 62C and the hardware monitoring-thermal zone is 60C. Will edit/post again w/ the in game temps

All the temperatures were cooler while running the game(as oppossed to having firefox open) except for the hard drive which peaked at 44, but was around 40 for the most part.

Basically I would say that your laptop is over heating. With a laptop since it doesn't stay nearly as cool as a desktop the idle temp for a CPU should be 45C to around 55C.

I like to say this to everyone who has a laptop. Buy a cooling pad, laptops are really never able to keep cool efficiently by themselves. Before you do that though, buy a can of compressed air and dust the laptop through the vents while the laptop is off. Dust is a major factor in overheating.

This is my recommendation for a laptop cooling fan.
