Try updating the driver for your onboard sound card......

When I had that problem, it was any sound I played on my PC....Fox said:Is this problem with any sound played on your PC or when you play cds?

This might sound crazy but it might just work. Maybe you have headphones or speakers in the wrong jack of the back of the computer. Did try switching it around!!!
