I plug in external speakers and no sound. For my earbuds, the only way they work is if I go to Device Manager and update Realtek driver. It then asks me to look for a driver and I choose and what it gives me is a message saying I have the right driver already. Then it says I need to restart. When I do the earbuds work. But I have to do this every time. Ridiculous. What's going on?

I use a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series laptop.

Have you tried installing/reinstalling the latest audio driver from Dell?

If it is still not working, try tapping the [Winkey], type in audio, tap [Enter], then click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the instructions.

In addition to what is said, you can Right Click the Volume icon in the lower right by the clock and choose Troubleshoot.
