I installed Windows 2000 Professional onto my moms computer, she has a basic system that relies on the motherboard for sound. Her motherboard is a Micro APX 815 with APG. Her external speakers no longer function. I checked Administrative Tools/Services/ file and there's no longer a file listed as "Windows Audio". Also, the only choice in 'Sound & Audio Devices' (under Control Panel) is the modem. I'm unable to choose anything else.
Thank you for any help, I will of course give out any more information if so required.
Please ignore the information in my signature, that's my computer, not hers.
When this same sort of thing happened to me, I had to reinstall the mobo sound drivers. I went to the manufacturers website and was able to download/update them there. Could it be the same for you?
That motherboard operates with an AC'97 onboard sound chip as far as i know.
All you have to do is download the codec, i believe This Download should solve your problem.
