Sound from headphones but, none from speakers

Okay before my speakers were working normally.

Then all of a sudden they just stop working. When the headphones are not plugged in there is no sound coming from the laptop speakers but, it says there are.

But, when i plug in the headphones u can hear sound coming through the headphones.

I have no idea what the problem is. I asked a friend of mine and he said its a known motherboard problem but, I can't really find anything on it. Can someone here please help me? ray:ray:
