Sound cards and motherboard question

On a lot of builds I never see people talk about sound cards, so do you need one? I did a little research and it says you need it for sound but that was for older computer and nowadays motherboard have built in sound. Is that right?

The motherboard I will be using is http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128419
Does this have built in sound?
Also if it helps I will be using headphones and mabye a speaker unit.

Yes, It has onboard sound. The only reason some people might get a different sound card instead of using onboard sound, is that sometimes, the sound card you get will give you better quality sound than what is onboard.
New Mobo's onboard sound is as good as, and sometimes better, that most sound cards.
Ok thanks thats good to know and to tell you the truth I can barely tell the quality of sound
