Hey There..

Extremly fusterated. I just received a rebuilt tower and I am having trouble with the sound. I already checked out Device Manager and there Multimedia Audio was in yellow with exclamations. I tried to delete then reboot, it says no software found. My guess is it is the sound card. Problem is where do i get the sound card? Any help would be great

Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
Model # DR-8360BTX
on the part that my speakers plug in to it says foxconn

Sound Card Driver problem

Doesn't sound to me to be a sound card issue but a driver issue for the sound card.
Suggestion:
1. Obtain model and or serial number of the Sound Card.
2. Google - Name of card (model number) Drivers. example:
Sound Blaster 2102x drivers <<not a real sound card
3. Download driver and install.

If you have the install file on your HD, then double click to install.
If that doesn't work, Device Manager, right click on the Yellow yield sign
and go into properties. Then Update driver and point to the file you downloaded.

That should do it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My computer was recently re built Everything seems fine except there's no sound what so ever (only the beep from the internal speaker).

If i go control panel> sounds and audio devices, the volume tab is greyed out and reads "no audio device". I have onboard sound and it was all working fine before the re-install.

In the device manager under other device under multi media audio it is yellowed out, when i right click and click update driver it says " the hardware was not installed as it can not find the correct software"

This is really stumping me.

Sound Problem

Ok, If that didn't work then it might be that the Motherboard
drivers have not been installed.
When you do an upgrade or install a new copy of the O/S you have
to reinstall all the Motherboard drivers again.
If you don't have original disc, then go to ASUS and type the model.
Get the drive for the Sound portion of the MOBO.
If that doesn't work then I would buy another cheap sound card
and try that. It will come with all the drivers ..etc..
It could be that the onboard sound card has gone bad, but I doubt it.

Sorry couldn't help any further.:sigh:
