Sorry I haven't been very active. I have been very busy in work for the last month and haven't been online very much.

Anyway, this is one I took couple of months ago. I have mixed feelings about it and would be interested to hear what you guys think.

I like the picture, but the colours are a bit dulled in it. It might look better if it was lightened, or the same picture again with more light on the flower. I think the petals would look nicer if they showed up as whiter.

A very nice macro - It does need the 'white point' to be adjusted with either levels or curves, just a smidgen.

Do you mind if I have a go?

EDIT: Welcome back....

A beautifully detailed photo Mack, but with the same comments about contrast. Perhaps a flash-gun pointing into the flower would have given the needed light (slaved to the camera's pop-up flash perhaps?).

As Donald says though, nothing that a minute or 2 of software editing can't cure

I just did a quick makeover in CS5

1) open the Levels pallet & set 0, 0.87 & 207.
2) make a duplicate layer
3) apply radius of 2.0 pixels of Gaussian blur to the top layer (don't worry about the 'blurry pic')
4) open the colour pallet (Ctrl+U) and add some saturation to the top layer, to taste
5) making sure that the top layer is still selected change its blend from 'normal' to 'colour'
6) flatten the two layers
7) crop at the rule of thirds :)wink:)
8) Save As... publish...

Done!
