So im new here and all, and im just starting to really get into computers in terms of opening it up and doin repairs and that sort of thing.
Anyway i had just fixed up a dell dimension L1000r that my gfs mom had in her basement (reinstalled windows me), and as a "reward" she bought me a used dimension L566cx. Well it needed a new HDD, so i bought one, with a new stick of RAM (256mb) from dell, and installed it(BTW:that brought me to a total of 512mb RAM). After i installed the windows me, it seemed to run fine. but it seemed to run a helluva lot slower than the L1000r. So i switched the Pentium III in the L1000r with the Celeron in my computer. Still, it seems to run so much slower than the other computer. and given my n00b-idly lever of exp and skill, i have no idea why.
Also, the processor cooling fan kept dyin on me so i took the old fan out and built a new one using the housing from an old fan that fit on my heatsink and a a larger fan. basically what i did was made an adapter plate to fit between the two and glued it all together, making sure nothing obstructed the fan if needbe, i spose i could provide a picture if its confusing.(in my mind bigger fan=more coolage) anyway it seems to be working fine and its pretty quiet, but could it be too cool?
sorry for the long long post too guys
