i have a sony vaio VGN-AR51M on vista
lately the screen started sending flickering lines horizontally across the screen.
then the screen started turning blue like someone had placed a blue piece of plastic across the screen, the icons were viewable.

now the screen has gone white like viewed through a mist the icons are there but distorted the computer works fine just the screen fogged up.

the problem only started 5 days ago. the screen usually turns back normal after a short period but today it has been fogged up for 2 hours no changes

can anyone please advise
thanks guys

bit annoyed with sony thought we were buying a good name but this laptop has had bits drop off or break in the last 4 years, it has not even been used that hard either
:sad::sad::sad:

Have you tried checking for a loose or damaged cable from the lcd to the motherboard,reinstalling the video drivers, do you see any difference if you alter the angle of the screen

Hi you can get the driver from the sony support site for your model and just install, to do a cable check it would be best to have the service manual to help guide you
Sony : VAIO VGN-AR51M drivers | Download drivers and updates for VGN-AR51M driver page
troubleshooting manual Sony : VGN-AR51M manuals | User manuals for VGN-AR51M
this is as much as I can find on how to open up the laptop please do not take any notice of the actual site offers, I would not send you to it other that it having some usefull info Disassembling your Sony VAIO VGN-AR51M laptop Service manuals
