Hi
I am new to all this, looked at a lot of forums before to help me out with problems but never posted my own... Here is goes
I have a Sony Vaio laptop VGN-NS20S and am having the following problem.
The laptop boots only when it is plugged into AC and the battery is NOT inserted. If the battery is inserted, despite being on Ac, it will not boot and the power indicator just goes solid green. that is all. Then I cannot shut it down unless I remove the Ac and battery, holding the power button does nothing. I have an identical laptop and the battery works just fine in it so I know it is not the battery but perhaps the pins connecting it or the motherboard.
A bit of history:
I bought it as not working and it had liquid damage for its screen.. after taking out the screen I figured I may aswell see if it boots and it did, just once though. I took it apart and gave the motherboard a good wash and clean as directed by a forum on this site. Put it all back together and walla! It powered up, all the ram is working etc just wont run on a battery!
The specs are:
