I have a Sony Vaio PCG-F403 which came with a 6Gb hard disk. I was thinking of replacing it with a larger one (maybe 40Gb), but I am unsure how big a hard drive the bios will support. I am using bios version WME01K1 / RK116K1. Does anyone know how big I can go?

I think this link could help. You will definitely need to update your BIOS firmware in order to put in a new hard drive. I don't even know whether a 40GB hard drive could work with the updates.

It seems i'm using phoenixBOIS 4 release 6. I'm sure i'm ok up to 18gb as the higher models in the range had 18gb disks.

I read somewhere on the web that this bios could not handle anthing over 33.8gb. anyone heard anything about this?
