I am trying to move some video files from my PC to my digital camera, so i can view them on it's screen.
The problem is that i cannot make the videos work.
From what i could find out, videos are recorded using Mpeg1, and sound is mpeg1 layer2, at 640X480 resolution.
Tried converting my AVI videos to those specifications, added .thm files (from other videos, renamed them to fit new videos), with no success. I keep getting a blue screen telling me that that file is corrupt.
Ty for taking the time to read this thread. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

The problem is more likely the codec used by your camera is not the codec you are using to compress/decompress on your computer. To find out which codec the camera uses you could take a video with it (if you don't already have one that you can use for this), transfer it to your computer then, open the video file in GSpot (link in my signature), it will tell you which codec has been used to compress the video and also tell you if you have that codec installed on your computer.
If you don't have the correct codec you can then do a search for it on Google and install it. There can sometimes be a problem here: some camera manufacturers use proprietary codecs - ones that they have the rights to and don't allow general usage.

Used gspot and gave me what i said in my previous post
"Mpeg1, and sound is mpeg1 layer2, at 640X480 resolution."
Found out that it uses something called MPEG VX, that is a custom mpeg from sony.
That means that there is nothing i can do?

the only MPEG VX encoder I can find on the net at the moment is this one - Digital Camera Media Studio
I have no idea whether this works well other than looking at topics from older other forum posts such as this

Sony are notorious for using proprietary codecs, file formats etc making it hard for people to adapt the files produced by Sony equipment for any other purpose :sigh:
