This is my attempt to explain what is happening on my computer.

I have an acer ASPIRE one netbook.
I run Windows xp SP3
I use Firefox, but do have IE, and have noted same problem using that program.
I have run a variety of "anti virus" programs and have found nothing but cookies.
I have done a system restore to November 1.( this problem has been occuring for a week now)
I have uninstalled firefox ( latest version and returned to an older version.

The biggest problem is when the mouse click doesn't seem to work. By this I mean that after every 2-5 clicks or "uses" of the mouse button it doesn't seem to work. I can move it over buttons, tabs, windows etc but I can't get the click to open or register as a button press. I am physically pressing the button on the mouse but the computer isn't picking it up or recognizing it. The shadow or change in link/button when you mouse over them doesn't appear. Also, drop-down boxes and objects like that can't be clicked on or selected. I have noted this will work with almost any program i am running, not just firefox. For example If I am typing something in word this can also happen just as easily.

The only way to get it to work again is to mouse over the pane thing along the task bar down the bottom of the screen and click out of the current window and click back into it. Even then it doesn't work straight away and may require clicking in and out of windows a few times.

When I unclick out of a window, sometimes a little (smaller then the pointer arrow) white box appears, usually on the task bar. I do have a screen shot of the little white box if need.

While I was given a disc with my computer when windows was installed, I have no disk drive on this little thing.

Thank you kindly.

Hello salena,

Do you still require assistance? If so, have you tried another mouse to rule out hardware issues?
