Hello DaneBrooke,

Then I went to remove unused programs and remove of Norton Anti Virus failed. On retry it self-detedted that first try failed and sent an error report to Symantec, followed by blue screen of death citing afd.sys as culrit.
See if this helps - go to this site and follow the instructions for downloading and running Symantec Removal Tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to the following:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Save it to your desktop.
Note: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware may require a reboot to complete removals. After a reboot, if required, post that saved log in your next reply.

Please run a new scan with dds.scr and post a fresh dds.txt along with an update on system behavior.
