So i've been working on this computer for 2 days now, and my problem is I can't get it to install printers properly. 90% of the time when I use the add printer wizard it'll hang on the "Completing" part after the driver installation dialogue finishes. This is ANY printer... the local USB printer will sometimes install, but when it does it is almost entirely unresponsive (the only time it'll pop up the "printer properties dialogue is right after I delete the printer, otherwise it'll just never show up)
Network printer is a hp 2605dtn, usb printer is a HP 4250tn
BUT if i just connect to a printer thats being shared on someone else's computer over the network it'll print perfectly fine.
I have no idea what to do, i've used a printer cleanup utility to delete all the drivers and printers from the computer, restarted the spooler, and fixed a windows installer issue that i thought was causing it, but no dice.
So yea, actually using the printer installation wizard to install a printer isn't working. Anyone have any other ideas?
