Hi mate,
first of all, dial-up modem could be really pain...
That modem how old is it??? Uninstall modem, remove him from motherboard and put it back in different slot...
Then start PC, and install driver for modem...
create a new connection and see what is going to happen and would you get BSOD again and also check can you open web pages that you could not open before...
Since you got new HDD, check cables... Maybe it is not hooked up properly...
But most likely you should buy new dial-up modem...
Hope this would help you mate...

Thanx for the tips, I have already tried reinstalling the modem and it didn't help. With the new hd i also installed service pack 3, could that be affecting it. Oh and i still have the original modem (Conexant D850 56K V.9x DFVc) from my 2004 demension 4700 Dell. I think there is only one slot to plug in my modem, so i just unplugged and plugged it back in.

Sry, I just looked again and there is 2 spots to plug in my modem, so I unistalled it and switched it then reinstalled it, but i am still having same problem. But its wierd, it will let me go to some websites like this one and google, but not like online games, it gets disconnected every single time i try to go on them or has the blue screen error. Actually it had an error one time i was on this website, but not ussualy.
