Something is screwedwith Adaware

I was getting error messages in English and German
from Adaware and it wouldn't run.

I uninstalled Adaware, downloaded it fresh and it still
gives the same two messages:

the program has performed an illegan operation,

and some German message follows.

Did you make sure that the folders for Ad-aware/Lavasoft was deleted in C:\Program Files\? Also, does the update work after you install it?

Uninstall it...delete the folders if they still exist. Restart and reinstall. Check for updates. Try running it again. If error occurs again, give me the exact message (both English and German).
Ok. I copied this longhand.

The two messages that appear are:

1.)

Ad-aware

This program has performed an illegal operation
and will be shut down.

Ad-Aware caused an exception eedfadeH
in module <unknown> at 00000:0000

Anwendungsfehler

Excfeption EReadError in Modul AD-AWARE.EXE bei 00021FE7

I got this right after using ad/remove and
deleting the Lavasoft directory again.

You're using Windows 98 right? OK, download this file and unzip the dll file to c:\windows\system\ folder. Now try running Ad-aware.

Something choked in doing this. I didn't use your
$20 unzip program, but a new error appeared.
What $20 unzip program? Get that file where it says Click here to go to the download of riched32.dll and then click on the Download riched32.dll file link to download it. Go to Winzip site and download the evaluation version of Winzip. Install it and use it to unzip the riched32 zip file you downloaded. You don't have to pay to use Winzip...only some extra features won't be available to you...which is not needed here anyway. We just need it to extract the zipped up files so you can copy them over and try running Ad-aware. Tell us how it went.
I am back on this and just download the Winzip.

Will see if additional errors occur.
