If you feel comfortable doing it, open the case and remove the WI-Fi adapter, clean it and put it back in.

Take the laptop to a place offering free wi-fi. That will determine if the problem is the laptop. Also, let's see your answers to Steve's questions.

If it doesn't find wireless networks, then your wi-fi adapter either needs replacement or is not affixed properly. Because Ethernet didn't work, be sure everything is set up properly. This is a case, that I wish I was there as something is wrong in the set-up.

the other laptop hook up to the to the same wifi connection and they get the internet from the same wifi connection

i have compared netwoks shareing systems between the different laptops and i have not found the problem

1. Are all lights on and green on modem?
2. Have you run the "Network Troubleshooter"?
3. Run an elevated command ipconfig /flushdns
4. In the device manager, see if there's a new driver for your Network Device although that wouldn't explain the Ethernet not working, but could fix the wi-fi.

1. Are all lights on and green on modem?

yes

2. Have you run the "Network Troubleshooter"?

yes

it tells me that it could be a firewall and security

i have turn off symantec to see if has block the connection

i looked at the firewall and it all looks the same that i remember

the firewall says it is being managed by symantec and that is why i turned it off to see if there was a change there was no change in the act i still can not get internet when connected to my wifi

i do not what they should be since this has never happen before

i ran troubleshooting and it said there was a problem with teredo tunneling and i got the yellow triangle to go away

i fellowed someone advise on how to fix it but it did let the internet connection

i went into the fire wall advanced setting to troubleshoot and it said the same thing

when i was installed my pvn update the internet provider killed my internet connection and my vpn did not work and in fact the program was gone

my internet provider kills my internet often when on the vpn so i can not use it much

3. Run an elevated command ipconfig /flushdns

yes i ran this in cmd as a administrator and it say successfully flushed dns resolver cache.

i did it early and i did it again to tell you the resolute

4. In the device manager, see if there's a new driver for your Network Device although that wouldn't explain the Ethernet not working, but could fix the wi-fi.

the same driver that opens wifi has a spot that list and shows the ethernet cable

when the cable is plug in it shows open and the red x go,s away and the modem flashs that the line is plugged in

the laptop flashes at the plug in inlet

i am not for sure if his answers your question

the devise manager in network adaters

list these adapter

atheros ar983 wireless network adapter
microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter
realtek pcie fe family controller
tap windows adpater v9

in network connections

local area connection
network cable unplugged
reltek pcie fe family controller

this changes to show the cable is pluged in when the cable is plugged in

the wifi uses

wireless netwok connection
tarra
atheros ar9285 wireless network

OK, at the moment your modem/router (default gateway) is supplying your DNS ...

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.254.254
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.254.254
so let's see if we can set up a "manual" DNS on your computer, and see whether that affects your ability to connect or not.

Please follow the instructions ... HERE ... to set OpenDNS as your DNS server.

IMPORTANT .... before making the changes in Section 6 of the article I've linked you to above, please note down your existing settings so that you can revert back to them if this does not work.
