is the printer shared? If so, browse the network to the computer that has the printer attached from the netbook. Right click the Shared Printer and choose Connect. The Printer should now be listed as a printer under Printers and Faxes. Right click it and choose Print Test Page.

How do I "browse the network"?
In "my network places", I see the host PC; in "comments" it says "PC name/shared docs".
In "network connections", I dont see a printer choice.

The printer is the only one listed in "printers and faxes".
Dropdown menu has no choice for "print test page"; but I did see that choice yesterday--I cant remember where.

OK, I got it working. It took a while to find the "connect" choice, that you mentioned. I finally found it by going: start / my network places / view workgroup computers. Then I had to open the host computer (with print device attached). R click the printer (by name) / connect.
NOTE: when I did that, a new printer was added. It's name was "hp psc 1200 series on office". I now set this one as default printer. The printer that didnt work was called "hp psc 1200 series". THE PRINTER NAME MUST END IN "ON HOST COMPUTER" (my host computer's name is "office")
