I just bought a wireless card for my pc and realized the driver isn't for vista. I've got a copy of xp and don't mind reverting to xp as vista is slow on my machine. but... i've got a USB keyboard which isn't responding on startup so i can't boot from CD to install xp. It looks like USB on bootup is disabled in the bios but i can't get into it to change this, as the keys dont work on startup! don't know anyone with a ps2 keyboard either so i'm stuck really. The HD is partitioned, is there any way to start the xp installation on the 2nd partition from within windows so it continues on restart? Or if anyone knows another way to get round this any help would be welcome. thanks

Re: XP installation problem

Vista may have the drivers for the card . . Put the card in and see if it does not recognize the card and load the drivers . . if not, Have you looked on the Wireless Card Manufacturers website fo Vista drivers?

If you want to revert to XP, check first to be double dog sure you can find XP Drivers for the pc . . What Brand/Model?

Re: XP installation problem

Unfortunately vista hasn't recognized them. The manufacturer doesn't have drivers for vista either. I guess i'll need to put xp on to get it working, which is ok. I still need to get past this installation problem though. Is the only option to get a ps2 keyboard? thanks

Re: XP installation problem

i can't get into the bios as the keyboard doesn't work on bootup. i've resolved this now My kb was plugged into the usb port on the front of the machine and looks like these don't initialize on startup. Plugged into the main one on the back and it was recognized.
