For years this all worked fine......
I'm using Outlook Express 6 and Word 2000 in Windows XP.
Now,starting this week... an email arrives with a Word attachment. I double-click on the attachment, Word opens, then, I get a series of error messages about an invalid file/path, and the attachment does not open.
I had a computer whiz look at the problem and here is what he found:
1. the attachment goes to a temporary file in an IE.content folder. The file can be opened from there, but Word can't seem to find it on its own. (although it always had in the past).
2. From the email, if I Save As (the attachment) to a known place, I can navigate to that place from Word and open the document.
3. Excel attachments open just fine.
How can I get my computer back to the way it used to be?
Did a virus cause this? My computer whiz shrugged his shoulders and had no fix for my problem.
I'm open to solutions and advice.
