Hello!

I currently have a D-Link DWL-7100AP, this acts as a repeater and repeats my D-Link router. I'm wondering if I can add an ethernet switch via ethernet cable from the Access Point?

There are also a number of different options on the DWL-7100AP, such as AP Client etc. Would I need to change the option?

Any help would be great, thanks.

What are you actually trying to achieve here? becuase i dont think you can have a switch connected to a repeater as it just aplifies the signal so installing a switch doesnt sound right.

Sure someone will correct me if i am wrong

Re: Wireless Access Point - Switch

I currently have a D-Link DSL-G624M Router in my house, and in shed/workshop I have a DWL-7100AP. I can pick it up fine, I'm just wondering if I can attach a switch onto it so I can connect computers via ethernet cable, since they do not have network cards.

Does that DWL-7100AP has a wireless bridge mode? If so, you should be able to connect a switch to it and split it out for multiple computers.

Yes, you should be able to add an ethernet switch to the Access Point but you will need to change the mode to an AP Client.

Re: Wireless Access Point - Switch

Ok, the switch arrived in the post today. In response to your question Johnwill, it's modes are:
Access Point
WDS with AP
WDS
AP Client
AP Repeater

Which setting should I choose?

Re: Wireless Access Point - Switch

I've got a D-link router > Repeater > Repeater > Repeater

On the last repeater I would like to plug a switch in.

So what would I need to bridge?

I've never tried such a stunt, and I have no intention of ever attempting it. I have no idea if you'll get it working...

I did try this method but it didn't work.

But I tried again, but changed the access points to DHCP instead of static IP and it works a charm!
