Hey there im new here,

Im having a few problems with my windows XP and computer.

I have a 2.2ghz AMD athlon dual core 4200+ processer and 1GB DDR2 RAM. I have recently been encountering some serious system problems. Starting today my system is constantly running with a CPU usage of over 70% at all times. Even when im not even running any programs apart from my protection software (Avira Antivir). Ive even tried closing this and it still is above 70%. It makes it impossible for me to run anything else like i used to. I cant watch any DVD's or try doing any homework. Ive tried everything i no to try and solve the problem, but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas? Need anymore info on my system? Post here and ill try and give it to you.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Windows XP processer usage.

Have you checked in your task manager to see which process is using the cpu time?
Re: Windows XP processer usage.

Nothing is out of the ordinary apart from one thing. The "wmpnetwrk.exe" is running and sometimes takes over 200,000k of the CPU. Ive tried ending this but it comes back and starts doing it again.

EDIT: it just reached 300,000k
