When i first got xp i made it so i could login automatically by going into the registry and adding new strings then i decided later that i wanted to have a password so i added a password and when i rebooted i was at the welcome screen and it said "The system could not log you on. Make sure your user name adn domain are corrent then type your password again." I'm running a dual boot with vista so i was wondering if i could edit the registry from vista to xp.

Re: Windows Xp Logon Error

You MAY have made 2 basic errors:
  • Editing the Registry to do what you needed (should have gone via User Accounts)
  • You should have Disabled Auto-Logon FIRST, then assign a password
WinXP, try downloading Microsoft's PowerToys TweakUI (see right sidebar) which has an easier way to do what you need.
