As of late, Windows Live Messenger refuses to open. Whenever I click the shortcut to open WLM, I receive the following message:

Windows Live Messenger has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

That's it; there is no error number included.

I have tried multiple un- and reinstalls to no avail. I have tried downloading older versions of WLM and upgrading them; the older versions work correctly, however, the new one does not.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

Windows Live Messenger does not even display error message when I click on its shortcut to open it, but the processes remain running. When I run the program as an administrator, it shows the error message.

Kill the process, then try launching it again. What AV are you using?

Killing the process doesn't do anything; when I relaunch, it only opens the process again.

I used Kasperksy and Malwarebytes fine for a year, and it worked with no problems until very recently. Kaspersky expired, so I removed that.

Reformatted my computer and reinstalled Malwarebytes and WLM worked for a day. I also installed AVG Internet Security, but it still worked for a little while with that installed. Just uninstalled AVG and Windows Live Messenger still doesn't work.
