Hi,

While attempting to compress and email some photos I have seen some bizarre behaviour from WLM2011.

If I select a few pix and elect to send them to an email recipient, instead of simply asking if I want them made smaller, WLM2011 tries to invoke the use of Skydrive and then wants me to log on to a Hotmail account.

Now every time I open WLM2011 it also opens the Hotmail login popup.

Surely there is an easier way to compress a few pictures so I can email them?

I have used the Zip function which works quite simply, is this the answer, please?

Re: Windows Live Mail 2011

Thanks jcgriff2,

Lots of good ideas there.

It's a pity when such a simple thing becomes so complicated. True, you can add a pic to am e-mail, no problems. But unless it is compressed (especially if thete are a few) the download will take forever.

Any suggestions how I can stop the Hotmail og in from popping up when I launch WLM2011?

Hi Rob. . .

I'm not familiar with the hotmail pop-up that you describe. Can you please take a screenshot of it?

I use WLM 2011 and have never had the hotmail pop-up issue.

One other idea --- log on to your Live account via Hotmail, then log out.

I had no problem either 'till I started messing about with 'Skydrive' et al, courtesy of the changes in WLM2011.
Still, fixed now.

Thanks.

Re: Windows Live Mail 2011

Hi Rob . .

Just saw your post after I submitted mine.

Nice find !!

John
Hi John,

A bit more info.

I should have known this, my photo handling software (Ashampoo Photocommander) has a feature where you click Edit|e-mail and it allows you to select all the pix you want from your files then compresses them into a PDF and attaches them to an e-mail.

Very neat.
