Windows 7 Recommended Tools for maintenance

I have a problem to solve and help for recommendation

Problem:

  1. This new windows 7 Presario when I use Alt + Ctrl + Del the screen goes blank before the task window comes up.
  2. When I download executable and run it, the screen goes blank momentarily.
Is this the problem only I face, a known problem or do I need to go for factory restart.

Recommendations needed:

I need equivalent applications, which will remove

  • All unwanted applications from start up
  • Application, which disallows any application to install in start up.
  • Snoop free for windows 7
  • WinPatrol for windows 7
  • Other tools which help to avoid virus, trojans etc.
And other essential applications which are recommended to run to avoid virus and suspicious pop ups.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Regards

Re: Windows 7 Recommended Tools for maintenance

You should be able to change startup programs from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools\System Configuration You can follow those items in control panel or click at the top of a window(where it shows a symbol and says my documents/control panel etc.) and copy paste that into it. Then click on startup. Unless you mean something that does it automatically?
As far as avoiding viruses and such, I see Malwarebytes Anti-Malware recommended everywhere and I use it myself.

Actually Win Patrol is also a great way to keep startup under control, maybe you need to look for the newest version if you are having issues with it.
Best recommendation I would make is Malwarebytes Pro Lifetime Antimalware and Microsoft Security Essentials for Antivirus.

Re: Windows 7 Recommended Tools for maintenance

Thank you CallsignWulf and Rich-M
I would continue to use winpatrol, snoop and other tools recommended and try to get equivalent stuff for windows 7. I have trend antivirus running. The glary tools I just checked the new version too supports windows 7 which means I can manage my start ups with that tool as well Cheers.

Is it windows 7 issue that screen goes blank when I execute the .exe or alt+ctrl+del

Thanks

I can't help but wonder if you aren't referring to the momentary screen blank when you try to install or open an exe and then you are prompted to agree with what you are trying to do, it's the UAC new to Vista and Windows 7 meant as a security precaution to prevent things from installing themselves. I only wish it stopped Malware from installing as it was intended to do.

Yeah that is a little bit disconcerting if you didn't know it was there. I have a Windows 8 pc where I had to shut it off as it was coming up with about 1/3 of program exes and actually preventing auto updating and a bunch of things surely not intended. You can control it in "User Accounts" in Control Panel.
