I just had to re-install windows xp, sp2, on my desktop. Since the re-installation, windows does not recognize my dsl connection. The connection worked before I re-installed. I opened network connections and it is blank. My dsl cable is good, as I connected it to my laptop and was able to go on-line. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Re: Windowds does not recognize dsl connection

It is connected straight to the modem. The dsl did come with a cd, but it just addreses setting up the modem and e-mail. It doesn't help with this problem. There is not a driver or program to load into the computer.

Re: Windowds does not recognize dsl connection

Does your ISP give a static ip, if so you may need to set it up on the system. Right now its obtaining one automatically by default.
Did you install your drivers for your motherboard and hardware? Possible you dont have your ethernet driver installed

This is the first thing I would check, especially after reinstalling windows.

Re: Windowds does not recognize dsl connection

I contacted my isp ahd he suggeted that my lan card driver is not loading. I do not have a cd with the driver on it, so I will try to download it from the internet on my laptop. If this works, I will post it.
