[SOLVED] win7 not starting

hello. writing on ps3..so, i just installed win7 again and few programs (iTunes, mozilla, steam). then i decided to boot before installing win's updates. it freezes on startup, normal startup and startup repair, both freeze. i searched from google that all i need is install win7 again, or update this 1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974431/
so, i downloaded dat update to flash drive but it doesnt help cause win is not even starting. so i tried re-install win7, but it freezes at same point. and i cant get it in safe mode, when i press F8 it gives me chance to choose startup with my harddisc, flash drive or DVD. either 1 working. then i found old vista's recovery dvd (came with brother's laptop). it gives me this: edit windows boot options for : windows 7
path : /windows/system32/winload.exe
partition: 1
hard disc: 5350a0a6
[ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN
]
and the last line i can change (write command?)
ok, any ideas? its tablet pc, win7, 117gb & 180gb HDDs, 2gb ram, 3,1ghz processor, GeForce 8200 graphics card, if needed. i had win7 for months, but when i was gone 2 weeks, other users got it messed somehow and i thought its best to instal all again.
please help, and quick! :p

Re: win7 not starting

and btw, its 32-bit. seems to be like this problem only been on 32-bit systems. and when i rebooted pc, it shut off normally, without needing powershut.
Re: win7 not starting

Hi make and model please, did you install all the drivers chipset, video, audio wifi et,what was messed up
Re: win7 not starting

model of what? my pc? brother's friend bought parts
once, if you mean like HP, fujitsu etc.
is there someway i could run linux ubuntu from flash drive, without have to get win alive /log in win/load windows , so i could format HDD that way?
E: i had installed drivers yes, myself. but it wasnt only about that, and for sure before formatting, i removed nvidia's drivers (dnt know why). i'll keep posting for long, its almost 0.00 am now. hope you keep me posted too :)
Re: win7 not starting

Hi we need some proper info since it appears this is a custom built machine can you post the make and model of your mother board, graphics card, ram, cpu, power supply and the wattage,I cannot answer the other questions untill I have the info it will allow me to see if what your asking is possible though the info here may help http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=how+to+make+ubuntu+bootable+from+a+usb+drive+&meta=
Re: win7 not starting

okat i'll try to get them. sorry, ps3 couldnt background download while downloading to flash drive. so i wasnt able to check your post. all i remember now, 2gb kingston RAM, nVidia GeForce 8200 graphics card, phenom 3,1ghz processor, im not sure about motherboard. i'll post soon the results about ubuntu installing...
Re: win7 not starting

motherboard seems to be ASUS M4N7-AM and powersupply Antec EA-500D , i opened the cover. i couldnt drive it from flash drive , i downloaded it from ubuntu.com , ubuntu 10.04 and it was .iso but stilll if i choose reboot device : kingston , it just starts to download windows files and freezes on black screen
e: im off for a while, but i'll be back in few hours.
Re: win7 not starting

Hi this is very confusing for both of us you say it is a tablet pc if that is the case it should have a maker ie toshiba, fujitsu, dell or another and a model number most likely on the base, was the machine infected with malware, how did you install win 7
Re: win7 not starting

hi. i dont know about these parts else but worked last 2 years with xp, vista and win7 well. im not 100% sure was there some kind of virus, but i formated HDD like i always do. fans start blow very high level on start up like always but now they keep on high level until i force shut down. and yeah, i installed win7 with its cd/dvd disc. maybe tomorrow i'll try to burn ubuntu to dvd and install it that way, because while installing ubuntu you shouldnt have to start up windows and i could format C disc that way.
im not sure did i mention before that i cant get win7 to boot in safe mode.
Re: win7 not starting

Hi try wiping the drive with kildisk then you can try the install again http://www.google.co.uk/url?q=http:...MoADAA&usg=AFQjCNHp11-IjShVBDRJMZtCn3VY6FRdIw
does that erase/format both disc drives? and how should i run it, burn to dvd?
i tried to install ubuntu, 32-bit and 64-bit (processor and motherboard both supports both), gives me purple screen for a while, then black screen.

both disc driver = i meant hard drives. and there is some kind of instructions... but, i dont get it. burn it there and burn that here,...
Re: win7 not starting

i couldnt edit anymore. so, if i understand right, i have ubuntu 32bit, 64bit or windows 7 installed on cd/dvd. i have to burn killdisk to any empty dvd. then boot computer with killdisk cd/dvd inside, and after that, inside with OS disc.
but what about, does it erase both hard drives?! hopefully not, because i have very, very important data in the other hdd. not the C: , which is OSdisc.
Re: win7 not starting

Hi you should get the option to wipe the one drive you want to http://www.ehow.com/how_4430330_use-killdisk-hard-drive-eraser.html
Re: win7 not starting

yeah, i get it working. then i shut down pc. i tried to run win7 first, it said "no operation system found"(looks like i failed to run dvd), then second time i got it and it started to download windows files. but it freezes again on "starting windows", and no windows logo appear. also with linux, it freezes on same place. i'll let my friend's pc to download win7 32-bit and 64-bit (the beta) if i can get it working somehow. then i can activate it with my own keycode/authentication, right?
Re: win7 not starting

Hi the media would seem to be a problem, the beta could be a issue as it is no longer supported and would shutdown after 2hours, this feature is built in so I do not advise that route,I also wonder if there is a problem with the harddrive did you run killdisk
Re: win7 not starting

i did run killdisk. now if i run killdisk , in the menu it says "unknown something" and says free space 117.2gb like it should. i didnt have beta earlier and if i just could run beta, i could get my own win7 dvd run correctly again. and it has 7 or 30 days before it starts to shut down every 2hour.
Re: win7 not starting

should i do something else with killdisk or drive any other software from dvd to somehow repair my HDD, if that is the problem?
Re: win7 not starting

Hi you would need to run a hdd diagnostic available from the hdd makers support site to check the drive for problems
Re: win7 not starting

ok. no problem with HDD. the one, who built the pc, had a look for it. seems to be like there was data, which windows couldnt understand. he gonna fix it later today.
many thanks to You, joeten, you really did help. :)
