Hey all, I've been noticing this the past week. It's only happened today when trying to play SWTOR and last week when playing BioShock. During gameplay, it's not an issue, it only happens when I try to alt+tab and do something else. I've made sure my graphics drivers and everything are up to date and I've tried everything else I know how.

Hope you can help!
Kayla

Edit: Oh, and just FYI, I've been running driver verifier for a couple hours with no issues so far. I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue either.

=============

  • OS - Windows 7 x64 Professional

  • What was originally installed OS on system? - This PC is custom built, but it had XP installed first, then Win7 as of 2 years ago or so. 64 bit was installed last summer.

  • Is the OS an OEM version or full retail version - Full retail

  • Age of system [hardware] - Varies. Most parts are up to 6 years old, some are only 6mos [RAM] - 1 year [graphics card].

  • Age of OS installation - as stated, I reinstalled Win7 64bit last June.

  • CPU - AMD Athlon II X2 245
  • Video Card - EVGA GeForce GT 440
  • Mobo - ASUS M3A78-CM
  • PSU - Can't remember at the moment, if you really need to know I can open up my case.

  • System manufacturer/exact model number - again, custom built. N/A

Re: Win7 BSOD when windowing out of full screen games

Hi -

You are running Windows 7 build 6.1.7600 void of SP1 (build 6.1.7601).

System files show -0- Windows Updates installed. There should be >150 installed.

Install Windows 7 SP1 + all outstanding Windows Updates -

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-windows-7-service-pack-1

www.update.microsoft.com

The 5 BSODs are a moot point at this time because of the lack of Windows Updates (meaning all Microsoft OS drivers are 2009 era) + you have added ~2012/13 era driver updates as well as installed programs written for a fully updated Windows 7 SP1 system.

Re: Win7 BSOD when windowing out of full screen games

I had quite a few windows updates, but someone on a different thread seemed to be convinced their BSOD problem was caused by some of the updates, so I was removing them to troubleshoot. :p I forgot to re-download them after I was done so I'll do that now.
I've been trying to install SP1 all day but it doesn't show up in updates and I hadn't gotten around to downloading it all individually from the website.

I'll let ya know if this helps. If it does, I'll feel really stupid, but grateful all the same. :)

Re: Win7 BSOD when windowing out of full screen games

After all the windows updates, it hasn't crashed yet, so I'm hoping it's fixed, but it hasn't really been long enough for me to say for sure. :p I'll keep you guys updated!

Thanks for the help so far though!

Re: Win7 BSOD when windowing out of full screen games

My PC blue screened again while I was trying to uninstall my Wacom tablet drivers so I could reinstall them. Now, my tablet only works when I'm windowed into certain programs and doesn't respond when I try to use it otherwise. :/ Not sure what's wrong so I don't know how to fix it.

Re: Win7 BSOD when windowing out of full screen games

I just remembered I had turned on Driver Verifier. I tried to update my Wacom drivers and blue screened again. Who Crashed says

Who Crashed said:
This is the general bug check code for fatal errors found by Driver Verifier.
The driver is unloading without first freeing its pool allocations. A bug check with this parameter occurs only when the Pool Tracking option of Driver Verifier is active. This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: wachidrouter.sys (Wacom HID Router, Wacom Technology).
I'm going to try updating the driver manually rather than through the Device Manager.

Re: Win7 BSOD when windowing out of full screen games

Ugh, sorry for the triple post, but it's just past the 15 minute time limit for editing. :(

I was able to update my driver successfully and it seems like my tablet is working normally again! It wasn't working as a pointing device before and now it is. Sorry for the needless bothering! :p

Re: Win7 BSOD when windowing out of full screen games

Hi -

No need to apologize & certainly no bother. Sorry that I didn't get to respond in the last 4 hours to help you, but looks like you did just fine with the Wacom drivers on your own!

Good Luck to you.

Kind Regards. . .
