Re: Win XP reinstall

Reboot your pc, press f1 for most computers, f2 for most dells, del or esc if not to bring up your bios setup. in the bios screen locate the Boot Device Priority option, usually listed under "boot options" or "boot" or "startup" or something to that effect, in that area you should notice a list of devices, normally Hard Drive, Floppy Drive, CD-Rom, or some items to that effect (possibly the actual device name, I.E. Toshiba CDR-W 1-9578) when you select these, somewhere on the screen, usually the bottom, it'll say which key to press to move item up or down in priority, in this case you need to select CD-Rom (or something to that effect) and move the item to the TOP of the selection, so that your boot priority will read:

1: CD-Rom
2: Hard Drive
3: Floppy Drive

insert your windows cd, reboot your pc, it should ask you to press any key to boot from CD at some point, at which time you locate your "any key" and pres it, and there you go.

Re: Win XP reinstall

If you still cannot find the DVD drive, then i would recommend taking a look at your drive and check the ide/sata cable or slots.Be sure to change slots if possible and then try again.
