My granddaughter has been given a Compaq Deskpro EN 115 (I think). PIII processor.
I've installed her HD (Win XP Home) and industry standard memory (Manual says that's OK) 750 Mb I think it is. May be 1 gig. I built the old one buy my memory's not so good.
All seems OK but... I can't find how to switch it on!!!
Led s on the Mobo come on but no switch to be found.
Is there some trick needed? Hope someone can help.

Re: Where's the switch?

Check the wiring coming from the front of the case to the motherboard and make sure it is properly connected.

Your issues may be either an incorrectly wired power switch to MB or a broken power switch. Both can be corrected.

What is the MB specific make/model?

Re: Where's the switch?

Nothing happens when you hit the power button? Maybe it's broken. Remove the header connected to the power button wires and short the 2 pins with a flat screw driver, see if it turns on.

Re: Where's the switch?

Nope. Not a sign of a switch.
I've asked someone who's used to them but he didn't know offhand. When he gets to work he thinks there is one in the tech backroom which is in use for odd jobs so he'll look in there tomorrow.
When I know, you shall know as well lads.
Meantime, here's the pictures to prove I'm not winding you up.

Re: Where's the switch?

You know, I will do that, also the floppy drive is like a fur traders convention!
I'll bet it's never been used (says he, harking back to REAL floppies- 5.25")
Doubt if it will work.
Haven't done anything to the Deskpro yet, doctor's this am, shopping after, now it's time for lunch then it will be time for me to do a full internal inspection of my eyelids. Best part of the day eh?
