For some reason, while studying for my CCNA, I have trouble remembering when I need to use a crossover cable. Like items is easy. Between switch and switch, router and router, but what mix of devices req. a crossover?

Whenever you go from a router to a host you use a crossover. Also when going from host to host (since windows xp it will work with a straight through)

And in truth, they're getting less and less necessary, as most newer devices have auto-MDX ports or gigabit connections. They're mostly used in CCNA tests.
