I have a Gateway GT5232E PC identical to this:

Gateway Support - Specifications

The only thing I have upgraded is the video card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 220) and replaced the DVD-Reader for a 200 GB Western digital slave hard drive.

However I've had that PC for over 5 years now, so I'm thinking of upgrading the power supply to a better one. The one I have right now is only a 300W (Model DPS-300PB-3 A). What would be the best possible power supply I could get that would be compatible with my PC? I game a lot on and watch a lot of anime on my PC, so I don't mind the price and I would like to get the best power supply available for my PC, since I have heard 300W is too low.

Good choice and the best bang for buck.

Re: What's the best power supply I should get?

Ok, I just received my power supply and connected everything, all that's left is the 4 pin slot on my motherboard: http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/610/dscf0013lz.jpg

This power supply only has a 2 pin and 6 pin connector, should I just plug the 2 pin one and leave 2 pins empty or try to fit the 6 pin one leaving the 2 extra pins out?

EDIT: I tried both ways but my computer doesn't power on, only the light in front goes on (and yes the power supply switch is on) surge protection maybe? I just want to make sure that cable is connected properly before I try anything else.

That PSU has
1 x Main connector (20+4 Pin)
1 x CPU 4+4 Pin
3 x Peripheral
6 x SATA
1 x Floppy
1 x PCI-E

Separate the 4+4 and use one of them.

Lol, my bad. I was using the wrong cable (the 2 pin and 6 pin cable is apparently that "PCI-E" cable you mentionned) I just found the the two 4 pin ones buried under all the wired, plugged it and it all works now! Again thanks a lot for the help :)
