Hi,

Im a newb to linux and Mandriva One has really got me to try it out.

I have also browsed other linux systems and it goes on about "safe to try with a Live Mode".

I havn't got a clue what this means. Can someone please tell me?

And also, is it possible to have linux and XP? i have xp on one hardrive and im going to put linux on another 40gb hardrive, is this possible?

Thanks.

Re: Whats is a "Live Mode" ?

"Live Mode" simply means that you run the distro off of the CD - you do not have to load anything on your computer or make any changes to your present OS. By doing this you can see if you like the Linux OS and if your system has any hiccups running it. Then if everything seems OK, you can load the OS onto your computer.

So just put the CD in the drive and reboot. Mandriva will fire right up.

And yes, you can run both Linux and XP - I'm typing on a machine that has that configuration right now. At startup I get a choice of which OS I want to run. There are numerous threads on how to accomplish that if your choose to go forward.

regards,
yustr
