Today, I bought:

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0311653

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0310468

I installed them on to my computer, disabled my integrated video card, and tried to boot up, but the monitor would not receive a signal. It just stayed black.

I'm currently running:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...41&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3384293&lang=en

Everything's the same except for some added RAM.

What should I do or what did I overlook that's preventing the card from working?

Re: What am I doing wrong?

A good quality (Seasonic or Corsair) 500W PSU would be good.
Remove the new graphics card. Boot the PC and uninstall the Onboard Graphics drivers-Shut down and boot into the Bios-set your Graphics to PCI-E-Save & Exit.
Shut down the PC-install the new GPU-boot the PC-Install the GPU drivers.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Yea the power supply was what you did wrong , definitely change it to a decent one. As for the no video problem you probably just need to change the video output to pci-e in the bios.
