I have recently encountered a problem with my volume control, not in any specific program, but the system tray icon.

Imagine your turning the volume down with the speaker icon, the music in the background is slowly fading it, but when you reach the bottom of the bar, the music is playing as if its turned up all the way, as for turning the volume up, its normal until you reach the top and its not as loud.

Thats my problem, and I'm really hoping someone can help me because its getting really annoying.

Re: Volume Control problem

My laptop is an acer aspire 5315, The soundcard is PCI if I'm answering your correctly, and use I have checked my control panel settings to no avail, Realtek does provide the driver I use, but I dont ever mess with it, only the volume control icon in the system tray.

After playing with realtek a bit I realized that when I turn the volume down with it, the same thing occurs, if that helps any.

Re: Volume Control problem

Hi,
Go in the control panel> Sounds/Audio Devices
A Sound and Audio Device Properties window will open
Go to the Speaker Volume Tab and Select Restore Default
Go to the Advance Tab (under speaker volume). Is your settings set for Laptop Stereo Speakers?

Have you tried to Update the sound driver (Realtek). Here is a link to the driver:
http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acer/bin/acer.html#
Select Product Type: Notebook
Select Product: Aspire 5315
Select Download: Realtek Audio Driver (make sure you select your correct OS)
Select: Download Selected Item

A window will open
Save the file to your desktop.
Extract the file to a folder and run the Setup exe. file

Let me know how you make out

Ah, looking through the advanced tabs I found something that said 1. Limited output, and it was checked. When I unchecked it, the the sound got loud, but now its back to normal. I didnt think to check the advanced panels, thank you very much :D.
