I have been given an old PC by a friend and all I want to use it for is internet access up stairs. and as a TV (PS2 monitor)

Current Setup

800 Mhz AMD Duron processor
128mb 100mhz Dram?
2.1 GB
Win 98

I have already installed a DVD & CD-R. I have an old 80gb Hard disk but I can't get windows to find it.

I have tried it as the Primary & Secondary slave. Both times the BIOS finds it OK but it doesn't appear on My Computer.

I need to upgrade to this Size HDD so I can install windows. This will then allow my TV card to work and make it easy to share an internet connection with my main PC.

The disk is NTFS could this be the reason. I have all my music & pictures backed up on this drive and would like to avoid formatting if possible.

Thanks

SMART (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a built-in diagnostic on your hard drive to help notify you of problems with the drive. Though many folks disable it, I really don't understand why. It perhaps uses a few extra seconds at boot, but I don't see that as a big deal. I would suggest you enable it.
