When I log onto the Internet the Windows Download Icon appears on the taskbar and indicates 0% Downloads. While the Icon is there I notice quite a bit of uploading going on. How can I turn this off to stop the upload of data whilst keeping the ability to download security updates?

Re: Unwanted uploads

If you double click the yellow download icon it should tell you what updates it is downloading to your computer (I doubt that it is uploading anything unless you have a virus)

Re: Unwanted uploads

Double clicking on the icon gives me a list of what is currently being downloaded but gives me nothing when only the uploading is going on.
Of interest now, is the fact that, except for legitimate downloads, the icon has not appeared in the last few days, ie, since I began looking for help! Thanks for your reply.

Re: Unwanted uploads

The only Uploading that would be occurring is Windows Update getting your system information from your computer to know what updates you need. Then it would download the files to a temp directory on your computer, then Install them. If it seems to stall after the download process has happened, before they Install, then Shut Down your computer and Install Updates.
If this has solved the problem, please mark this thread Solved in the Thread Tools at the top.
