Hello,

Recently (about a week ago) I have been getting the BSOD for no known reason whenever I browse the web for 20-30 mins or play any video game (Minecraft, for instance). I have done anything and everything i can do (run memcheck, re-install windows, set computer to factory deafults etc. etc.) But nothing helps; whatsmore, no errors were detected during any hardware checks.

Here are the BSOD details:

Bug Check String: ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY
Bug Check Code: 0x000000be
Parameter 1: ffffffff`fffe00b0
Parameter 2: 00000000`fee0017b
Parameter 3: fffff880`02f8b960
Parameter 4: 00000000`0000000a
Caused By Driver: CLASSPNP.SYS
Cause By Address: CLASSPNP.SYS+1c27
Crash Adress: ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0
Full Path: C:\Windows\Minidump\052812-23446-01.dmp
Dump File Size: 291,400

And here are my PC's Specs/Hardware:

Processor: AMD Athlon II x4 640
Installed Memory RAM: 4.00 GB (I don't know what manufacturer or model)
Motherboard: BIOSTAR GF8200E
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8200
DiskDrive: Hitachi HDS721050CLA362

I have attached the dump file to the thread.

Could someone please explain what the heck is wrong with my computer and how to fix it, thank you.

Krissto

Re: Unknown BSOD from time to time

Thank you loda, but I have all the Important/Optional updates (except language packs).
On another note: sorry for not reading the post you linked me to, I was too curios of finding out about errors like these.

Re: Unknown BSOD from time to time

Thank you loda, I realised that just now when I ran the perfmon /report, It said there was a corrupt/outdated driver.

Thank you for all your help, I hope this works.

Re: Unknown BSOD from time to time

Installed all the new drivers except 'sataide_WIN764_11.1.0.30' because whenever I run it it says: Drive A is not a valid drive, unzip operation canceled. Is that anything serious?

Re: Unknown BSOD from time to time

The thread is solved. Now I know where to go when something is wrong.

if the issues arise again go ahead and start a new thread
usually we recommend keeping the thread open for few days just in case if same issue comes back or new one arises so we can look at what has been done from the start
If you do happen to create a new thread related to this issue post the link for this one as well in there

Cheers
