I uninstalled Spybot Search and Destroy almost 2 months ago and one of my desktop's user account still displays the application's icon in the Windows 7 system tray. To make matters worse, the icon is interactive. If I click it, I can still access the 'White and Black list' or something of that nature. The application is not in my control panel's list of installed software either so I don't know how to get rid of it. Before meddling around with my startup applications using msconfig (since I've read here on TSF that it isn't sound to do that unless using an specific application startup tool), I'd like to know if anyone can offer me some helpful remedial suggestions.

Deleting the folder did not resolve the issue.

Re: Uninstalled application appearing in system tray

If you used Programs/Features to uninstall, now delete the folder C:\Program Files\Spybot – Search & Destroy\

Hello again Solidify,

Mmmm..this is rather a perplexing issue.
How long have you had Spybot S&D on your computer?
If it isn't too long perhaps trying a System Restore to a time before the installation took place.
Another trick I have learnt over time to get rid of pesky programs is to, reinstall it and once set up, uninstall it with a program like Revo Uninstaller.

You can download Revo Uninstaller from this website.
(The Full Free version is at the bottom of the page.)

Spybot S&D Download Link.(Version 1.6.2 from the bottom of the page, under 'Other Downloads'.)

Spybot S&D Version 2 Download.

Depending upon which version you had installed, will determine the version you download.

Give this a try and post back with the results.

Kind Regards,

Re-installing SPSD and uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller resolved the issue. Thank you all.
