Recently setup a new computer on my network and I'm having a problem connecting to our internal web (SBS-companyweb). Other new computers have connected fine. Can't figure out why this one is having a problem. Email and internet connection is working fine. Any suggestions?

Re: unable to connect to companyweb

how do you connect to your internal company web ?
by DNS name ? Or by IP ?
If dns name, did you try: "ping webname.domainame" ? Any Reply ?

Re: unable to connect to companyweb

Yes, I can connect using the IP address in the web browser to the Welcome page of Windows Small Business Server 2003 but it will not allow me to link to "My Company's Internal Web Site".
I can not ping "companyweb" either like I can on my other computers.

Re: unable to connect to companyweb

Check if you have right DNS server IP address in your TCP/IP properties.
Try "ipconfig /all" in console window and try to compare with the same on other machines where ping "companyweb.domain" is ok.

Re: unable to connect to companyweb

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following two commands:

nbtstat -n

ipconfig /all

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: unable to connect to companyweb

I did the ipconfig/all and found there was a difference. Yes, I had the right DNS server IP address but I had to manually enter the "DNS suffix for this computer" on the DNS tab of the TCP/IP settings for it to work. I hope this doesn't cause any future problems. Thank you for your help.
