For some reason, any button I mouse over in firefio that changes the color, is now white.

This makes it very difficult to see something, like my bookmarks. Check the attached image for an example.

I've narrowed it down to the "Selected items" toggle under windows 7 themes, but that changes it for the whole system. If I change the highlighted color to black, for example, I can see it fine in firefox but everywhere else it looks out of place.

Any ideas? I'm working with a fresh firefox install.

With 100s of themes available, why not select an attractive one that doesn't cause the problem. I've noticed that those with few downloads are less usable than the popular ones. I'm specifically referring to FF themes although Windows7 custom themes are just as available.

Well the thing is, in the past, the same theme I'm using (its a custom one, just changed the desktop colors and taskbar colors, nothing more), it was fine. Sometimes, for some reason the colors in firefox would bug out, and I would have to restart windows for it to be better, but that is not the case this time.

FF updated the other day. It could be a compatibility issue.

Hmm.. perhaps

Well, I just tried something. I often run FF in compatibility mode for xp sp3, so that I have the file, edit, view, ect buttons on top.. The colors only seem to be messed up when I run it in xp mode.. Though it is crashing when I'm running it under 2000 :\

To change the font color in Firefox, go to Tools/Options/Content/Fonts and Colors.

I've tried that, there is no way to change highlighted color
Also, if I tick "use system colors" there is no change.


I should also note that if I use a theme, such as windows areo, the problem persists.

You can change your Windows font color. Right click a blank space on the desktop/Personalize/Window Color.

Yes, I know. I have a custom theme. However, even after trying the new firefox beta, and a clean reinstall of firefox, the issue remains.

Unless I change the windows theme color, I can not fix it. However, changing the windows theme color will effect the whole of windows, when the problem is only in firefox for some reason.










I do believe i've fixed it..

Somehow I had to toggle between bold font (windows theme) and firefox to use system settings.. and it worked.. strange.. Anyway, thanks.
