I couldnt find what seems an appropriate place for this so i am posting here, hope i dont get in trouble.
I purchased a minor version of technet. It gives me access to download most of the win operating systems, curiously it leaves win 98 out but includes win 3.1.
It also gives me access to msoft office and many other things, and gives me cd keys when needed.
Now i tried to find out right at their website exactly what i can do with all this but i cant seem to make out what they are saying.
Can someone help me out with this? Lets say win 7 ultimate. I have 2 cd keys for it. What can i do with them? Can i install win 7 ultimate on 2 different computers using the 2 cd keys? Do they activate and allow updates? Can i treat the cd keys as if they were retail versions? Exept maybe i dont get support? Im guessing the same answers would apply to the other win operating systems that i have access too, and the msoft office and other programs they have provided?
As you can see im totally new at this so any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance for your help.

Those licenses will allow you to do the same as you would if you purchased a copy of Windows 7 from the store. They'll activate, allow updates, you can use the 2 keys on 2 separate computers if you want too.

Re: technet

To qualify that, the keys for all of the software available on Technet are intended for internal evaluation only. The licensing is very specific about this. That said, they will work as retail installations on your internal machines with normal activation and normal updating. DO NOT give/sell them to anyone or any machine that is not a part of your internal inventory of machines.

Re: technet

I understand know. I wasnt quite sure about the evaluation part of it, wether they fully activated and such.
That being the case, its a very good deal then. I got a bunch of versions of win 7home, home premium, ultimate, both 32 and 64, and office, and a bunch of other progs, along with other goodies.
Thanks for the info. For what you get i can easily suggest one get this deal, only cost me $200.
But from what you say i cant use the 7 ultimates myself and give other keys to friends? I guess i would get caught and get in some sort of trouble?

Re: technet

Correct, you can't give the keys to your friends. Some sort of trouble would be it. Microsoft can come down on you pretty hard if they want to. You might be too small to bother with, but I wouldn't count on it.

Re: technet

Agreed. Technet is for administrators/it professionals to test and evaluate fully-functional (and activated) software. It's not meant as a cheap way to get Windows or Office (or other things), because the usage restrictions on Technet software are high versus retail or OEM software.

These cannot be in any production environments (other than for testing), they cannot be used to rebuild/image machines other than test machines in a corporate environment, etc. These are not retail, not for resale, and not for production use.

From the EULA you agree to when you purchase and use a Technet subscription:
You may use the evaluation software only to evaluate it. You may not use it in a live operating, in a staging environment or with data that has not been sufficiently backed up. If the evaluation software comes with its own license agreement, this agreement will control. If that other license agreement gives you additional rights that do not conflict with express limitations in this agreement, you also have those rights.
Note the documentation on Technet and distributed with Technet subscription software *can* be redistributed and modified to others, but not the software itself.
